Australia Visit Visa Requirements for Pakistani citizens centre on one application, the Visitor visa (subclass 600), Tourist stream. You lodge it online through ImmiAccount, upload your documents, and give biometrics at VFS Global only if Home Affairs asks. The case officer then decides whether you are a genuine visitor who can fund the trip and return to Pakistan. This guide covers eligibility, documents, fees, health checks, processing times and refusal risks, and it uses the Home Affairs Tourist stream page and the VFS Global Pakistan checklist.

Which Australian Visa Do Pakistani Citizens Need?
Pakistani citizens need a full Visitor visa (subclass 600), because the ETA and eVisitor are closed to Pakistani passports.
Visitor Visa (Subclass 600) and Its Streams
Three streams matter for Pakistani travellers:
- Tourist stream: holidays, cruises, and visits to family or friends, for up to 12 months.
- Business Visitor stream: meetings, negotiations and conferences, with no paid work.
- Sponsored Family stream: an eligible Australian sponsor supports the visit, and Home Affairs may ask the sponsor for a security bond.
ETA and eVisitor Eligibility for Pakistani Passport Holders
The ETA (subclass 601) covers a defined list of passports, including the United States, Canada, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and a number of European countries. The eVisitor (subclass 651) covers eligible European passports. Pakistan is on neither list, so you must apply for the subclass 600.
Australia Visa Requirements for Pakistan: Who Is Eligible for the Tourist Stream
Meeting the Australia visit visa requirements means you are outside Australia, are a genuine visitor, can fund your stay, and satisfy the health and character rules.
Genuine Visitor Requirement
The case officer assesses whether you intend to visit temporarily and leave before your visa ends. Evidence includes your job or business, family responsibilities in Pakistan, property, and a clear purpose for the trip. Your form answers must match your documents, because inconsistencies can lead to refusal.
Sufficient Funds for Your Stay
You must show enough money for flights, accommodation, daily costs and insurance. The VFS Pakistan checklist asks for a bank account maintenance letter and three months of statements. A relative or friend can fund the trip if they provide their own financial evidence.
Health and Character Requirements
Every applicant must meet the health requirement. Declare any criminal conviction, visa refusal or cancellation, and expect requests for police certificates or health checks where Home Affairs rules require them.
You Must Apply From Outside Australia
A Tourist stream applicant must be outside Australia when applying and when the visa is decided.
Australia Tourist Visa Documents for Pakistani Applicants
The VFS Global Pakistan checklist defines the Australia tourist visa documents you upload. Scan each item in colour and name files clearly, for example “Passport” or “Bank Statement”.
Passport and Photograph
Upload every page of your current passport and any pages of previous passports that hold visas or stamps. Add one passport size photo taken in the last six months.
NADRA Family Registration Certificate and Marriage Documents
Upload your NADRA Family Registration Certificate. If you cannot obtain one, provide Form B or explain why. Married applicants add a NADRA marriage registration certificate or Nikah Nama.
Bank Statements and Account Maintenance Letter
Provide an account maintenance letter and bank statements for the last three months, both stamped by the bank. Support any large deposit with a document that shows its source. Add land, property or investment records if you hold them.
Employment, Business and Student Documents
- Employed: three months of pay slips, an employment contract or letter stating position and income, and an approved leave letter confirming your return to work.
- Self-employed: business name, address, nature and registration, business bank statements, and your NTN certificate from the Federal Board of Revenue.
- Student: proof of enrollment at your school, college or university.
Travel Itinerary and Accommodation Details
Submit your planned itinerary and accommodation details. The checklist advises against confirming bookings or buying tickets before the visa decision.
Sponsor Documents If a Relative Funds Your Trip
The sponsor writes a letter with their full name, date of birth, relationship to you and the period they will support. They add three months of bank statements and pay slips. A sponsor outside Australia also provides an employment contract or employer letter, or business registration and business bank statements if self-employed.
Polio Vaccination Certificate
Home Affairs expects a polio certificate from applicants who spent 28 days or longer in Pakistan since 5 May 2014. Upload it at lodgement, because a missing certificate can delay the case. IOM Pakistan advises vaccination between four weeks and 12 months before departure.
Extra Documents for Applicants Under 18 and Over 75
A child travelling without one or both parents needs Form 1229 or a statutory declaration from each parent who stays behind. Add the child’s birth certificate and certified copies of the parents’ identity cards or passports. Applicants aged 75 or over provide proof of medical insurance for their stay and complete a medical examination.
How Much Money Do You Need to Show?
Home Affairs sets no fixed minimum balance, so your funds must cover the full cost of your own trip. Add flights, accommodation for every night, daily spending, transport, insurance, the visa fee and the biometrics fee. Your balance should exceed that total, and your statements should show steady savings and a clear source of income.
AIRCS offers a free initial eligibility assessment and can check your document set against the VFS checklist before you lodge. Call +92 311 4464274, message us on WhatsApp, or read about our Australia visit visa service.
Australia Visitor Visa Fees for Pakistani Applicants
The Tourist stream fee is AUD 250 per applicant when you apply from outside Australia. Each family member is a separate applicant. The fee is non-refundable if the visa is refused.
Visa Application Charge
Home Affairs applies the charge that is current when it receives your application. A payment surcharge may apply to credit card or PayPal payments. Check your exact total in the Visa Pricing Estimator before you pay.
Additional Costs: Biometrics Service Fee, Medical Exam and Insurance
- Biometrics: VFS Global may charge a service fee. Check the VFS Global Australia page for the current amount and payment method.
- Medical exam: paid to a panel physician, only if Home Affairs requests it.
- Health insurance: Condition 8501 can require you to maintain adequate health insurance in Australia.
Biometrics, Health Examination and Character Checks
You give biometrics only after Home Affairs sends a biometrics letter. Bring the letter, your passport and photo ID to a VFS Global centre in Islamabad, Karachi or Lahore. The Australian High Commission confirms you no longer need an appointment in Pakistan.
Australia visitor visa requirements on health depend on your stay and country. A health examination is generally required for stays of 6 months or more from a higher TB-risk country, and for applicants aged 75 or over. Pakistan is classed as a higher TB-risk country. Check the “View health assessment” tab in ImmiAccount, and use only an approved panel physician.
Character checks depend on your declarations. Answer every question fully and reply to any Home Affairs request promptly.

Australia Visitor Visa Processing Time
Home Affairs’ 29 September 2026 figures show 50% of Tourist stream applications decided within 21 days, 75% within 26 days and 90% within 33 days. These are global percentiles for recently finalised cases, not Pakistan-specific times. Home Affairs updates them monthly.
Ten percent of cases take longer than 33 days, and biometrics or health checks add further time. AIRCS recommends lodging at least eight weeks before your departure date.
Length of Stay and Visa Conditions
The Tourist stream allows up to 12 months, and the grant notice sets your period at 3, 6 or 12 months. Common conditions are:
- 8101: no work.
- 8201: study or training limited to three months.
- 8503: no further stay, which usually blocks applying for another visa inside Australia.
- 8501: adequate health insurance, where imposed.
Common Reasons Australian Visitor Visa Applications Are Refused
Most refusals result from doubt about your intention to return or your ability to pay. Typical causes are:
- Weak ties to Pakistan, such as no employment, business or family link
- Bank funds too low for the trip, or with no clear source
- Answers in the form that contradict the documents
- Requested items not provided, such as a polio certificate, health exam or biometrics
- Previous visa breaches or overstays
Declare any refusal in future Australian applications.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can Pakistani citizens use the Australian ETA or eVisitor?
No. Pakistan is on neither eligibility list, so you must apply for the Visitor visa (subclass 600).
How much bank balance do I need?
Home Affairs sets no fixed amount. Show three months of stamped statements with a balance that covers your full trip cost.
Is a polio certificate mandatory?
Home Affairs says applicants who spent 28 days or more in Pakistan since 2014 should provide one, and the VFS checklist lists it. Omitting it can delay your case.
How long does processing take?
In the 29 September 2026 release, half of Tourist cases finished within 21 days and 90% within 33 days. Your case may take longer if Home Affairs requests further information.
Can I extend my visitor visa inside Australia?
Only if your grant does not carry condition 8503, which blocks most further visa applications inside Australia. Check your grant notice or VEVO before you travel.
