Germany: Tuition-Free Public Universities, But Not Straight After Intermediate
Most public universities in Germany charge no tuition fee for bachelor programs, with only a small semester contribution required for administrative costs and student services, usually EUR 150 to 400.
Here’s the rule most guides skip: a Pakistani HSSC is not equivalent to the German Abitur, according to DAAD Pakistan. This means an FSc or HSSC holder cannot walk straight into a German bachelor’s degree. There are two routes instead:
- Complete one year of undergraduate study at a university in Pakistan, then apply in the same field in Germany, or
- Attend a Studienkolleg foundation course in Germany and pass the Feststellungsprüfung exam, which requires basic German
